We all make unplanned purchases, sometimes we are influenced by discounts, sometimes we do not want to miss out on offers or other times, we just like the look of the product so much that we want to buy it immediately.

But do you know what the research says about impulse buying behaviour of Gen Z?

Around 82% of Gen Z make impulse purchase online to take advantage of sales/deals or to treat/reward themselves. Online impulse buying behaviour is a lot more common among Gen Z and Millennials than Baby boomers. Majority of the Gen Z are using social media with Instagram being at the top. 61.2% of the global Instagram users are between the ages of 18-34

Instagram ads are the most common influencers to online purchase behaviour.

Also, Instagram gives the highest ROI to influencer marketing, followed by YouTube and Facebook. Gen Z are highly influenced by social media influencers.


Therefore, to effectively market to Gen Z, here are some of the ways you can utilize:

  1. Create high quality attention grabbing content

  2. Get the influencers to give product features and reviews

  3. Use targeted ads to promote your brand and products

  4. Correctly communicate your brand's core values

  5. Develop a strong engagement strategy on social media though comment section and creating contests

  6. Make sure to establish credibility of your brand with accurate information
